The NFL season kicks-off on Thursday, September 7, when the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. With the start of the NFL season comes fantasy football. More than 33 million people will play fantasy football, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. Coworkers may join a fantasy football league where they pick virtual teams to play against one another. For the 57 million Americans living with disabilities, the largest barrier to Quality of Life is finding employment. There are 30 million Americans with disabilities of working age but only 20 percent of them participate in the workforce.
The barriers to employment usually stem from stigma about what individuals with disabilities can achieve and contribute to the workforce. A survey that we worked on with PwC found that many people try to hide their disability out of fear that stigma will keep them from getting a job or limit their job options. (more…)

In fact, research has shown that creating a feeling of optimism and happiness at work can improve employee performance. A while ago one woman took the Internet by storm with her Facebook Live video gone viral. Candace Payne, otherwise known as “Chewbacca Lady,” bought a noise-making Chewbacca mask, put it on, laughed quite a bit, and shared her experience on Facebook. The video has garnered over 159 million views and millions of likes. The Office, NBC’s hit comedy that aired from 2005 to 2013, led to millions of viewers laughing on a week to week basis. It was one of my favorite shows and even all these years later, it still makes me laugh…and rings true of what goes on in most office environments, albeit a little exaggerated. The show documents the life of a rather dysfunctional office and their daily antics. While as a whole, the extreme personalities of The Office, lead to an incongruous environment, there are traits from each of the characters that can be quite beneficial when applied in the workplace.
