First, let me dispel a common myth: Nutritionists do enjoy sweets. Dark chocolate is pretty hard for me to resist. And sometimes I just need to make chocolate chip cookies! What I don’t love, however, is the notion of a guilty pleasure. No one should ever feel bad when they’re eating something that tastes good. So I propose taking that phrase out of our vocabulary. As one of three girls, my mom coached us to eat all of our fruits and vegetables, get enough sleep, and be physically active every day.  During my dietetic internship with Sodexo, I realized that this is much easier said than done.  According to the CDC, only 33% of us adults get the recommended servings of fruit in a day.[1] Only one in five meet the overall physical activity guidelines for aerobic activity a week[2] and less than 40% of adults get the recommended amount of sleep in a night.[3] The question remains, what is stopping us from living a healthy life?
