A few questions may come to mind when thinking about jobs of the future.

For the career strategist: What kind of work will I be doing 15 to 20 years from now? Will my current job exist? For the high school student filling out college applications: What kinds of jobs will be available when I graduate? For the business leader or those in charge of planning the company’s next steps: What kinds of jobs will my business or organization need to create to keep customers satisfied and employees engaged?

The answer according to Sodexo’s 2014 Workplace Trends Report is quality of life. Jobs that increase productivity and employee engagement. Jobs that provide an experience for a company’s customers and a company’s employees. Jobs that impact the whole person, the environment and the communities which we live and work.

Based on trends in technology and the needs of an ever-evolving work force, we have highlighted six jobs of the future from our friends at The Futurist that will impact quality of life. Many of the emerging careers (Chief Experience Officer, Energy Harvester, Office Concierge, etc.), are based upon what will likely be core organizational needs by 2030 – and the sooner organizations plan for these contingencies, the better.
