Hoop house provides students with important experiential learning opportunities and benefits to the community

Sodexo proudly served breakfast and lunch and provided employment resources to 2,000 veterans
GAITHERSBURG, Md., February 16, 2017 –Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life services, partnered with Arizona StandDown on February 9 and 10, to provide 4,000 meals and employment services to more than 2,000 veterans attending the annual outreach event at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, Arizona. Over 40 volunteers representing five Sodexo segments including government services, healthcare, schools, universities, and corporate services, hosted breakfast and lunch for the veterans and provided an employment resources table to help the veterans find job opportunities. Real-world case studies help students connect STEM coursework to environmental and sustainability career pathways
GAITHERSBURG, Md., January 04, 2017. With the support of Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life services, teachers nationwide now have a new resource specifically designed to help students explore applications of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in real-world food waste and environmental sustainability challenges. Teachers are invited to use a new Spark 101 STEM Skills Video to engage students in an example of authentic problem-solving based on actual challenges faced by employers. In Sodexo’s Spark 101 challenge, students are asked to apply their environmental science and analytical skills to help Sodexo’s client reduce food waste typically sent to the landfill.

At times it means facing hunger. For more than 10 years these employees have dedicated support to locally run meal programs in alignment with the mission of the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation. During the 2016/2017 school year, the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation is funding 73 backpack food programs across the United States, providing 2.3 million meals to help bridge the hunger gap during holidays and school breaks.
