Let’s get back to basics. Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. Growing up, we’ve all heard this adage one time or another and seen many commercials with our favorite hero on a box of cereal encouraging us to eat breakfast. (more…)
Did you know that what your children eat today can have a lasting impact on their health and well-being for a lifetime? Eating healthy, nutritious food is not only important for a child’s normal growth and development, but can also help them maintain a healthy weight and lead to a better quality of life. (more…)
Gender equality in the workplace isn’t just a women’s issue. Male leaders can drive gender equality in executive leadership roles by proactively advocating for female leaders in their organizations. As recently noted in Sodexo’s 2016 Diversity report , women comprise 45 percent of the S&P 500 labor force, yet still only represent about 25 percent of executive or senior-level managers, and only 4 percent of CEOs. Here’s another important statistic: McKinsey & Company compared the financial performance of companies with a significant number of women in top management to those without women in top roles. The companies with the highest number of women leaders had the best performance, averaging 41 percent higher return on equity. (more…)
Tickets are hard to come by for the Broadway show “Hamilton,” which won the Tony Award for Best New Musical Sunday night. But that hasn’t stopped it from becoming a sensation across the country, with many people listening to its soundtrack on repeat. Much of its popularity comes from the innovative way it blends American history with a hip-hop-meets-show-tunes soundtrack. (It’s not every day you hear cabinet meetings imagined as rap battles.) Yet part of what makes the story so compelling is its real-life hero, Alexander Hamilton, who was talented and flawed in equal parts. (more…)

Sodexo has partnered with the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) to make sure we have healthy choices in all the food service facilities we oversee, including community venues where families spend their leisure time, such as aquariums, museums and zoos. (more…)
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
― Winston S. Churchill
Giving back to our communities and to those in need makes our lives more meaningful. Not only do we encourage our kids to do community service while they’re in school, but many people spend weekends doing volunteer work, often through an organized group or a religious institution.
Every year the month of September is dedicated to celebrating the importance of eating breakfast as a part of a healthy balanced diet and active lifestyle. The power of breakfast is often underestimated. The food we choose affects our energy level, our ability to focus and our power to think clearly. This has been proven with students in the classroom and with athletes on the field—it stands to reason that it makes a difference in the workplace as well.
Check out any recent employee engagement survey and the news is the same—engagement is at all all-time low. Both APA and Aon recently released studies that indicate employees are feeling stressed and disengaged from their work. Much of this can be attributed to challenging work environments with employees being asked to do more with fewer resources. So how can employers begin to reenergize and reengage their workforces?
“We are the world. We are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day. So let’s start giving…”
Ah, summertime. Long days filled with friends, freedom, fun—and for millions of children in America, hunger.
America is the most prosperous nation in the world, and still one in five young people are at risk of hunger. That is why at Sodexo we focus our community service efforts towards finding solutions for this crisis – and believe that young people can stand together with us in leading the way to a better tomorrow.
